Rashes of the Skin

May 28, 2010 · Posted in Facial Concealer · Comment

Skin rashes is a common skin discomfort which causes small red spots, redness and itchiness. It can happen anywhere is your skin – your face, your hands, your legs, your body.

Using the wrong skin care products such as cleanser, toner, scrub, moisturizer or masque may upset your skin. It does not matter whether you are using chemical based or natural / herbal based products, if your skin cannot cope or accept the particular facial ingredient, your skin will break out with rashes – signaling you “Hello! You have used the wrong product..”. Some people may be allergy to essential oils, even the most expensive and branded skin care product may cause allergy to some users.

Switching skin care products (different brands) too often in a short period of time say within one or two months, can also cause irritation, sometimes rashes to your face. Just before your skin could adjust to the current brand, you have decided to try new ones. Eventually your skin could not take it and begin to show signs of rashes.

Stick to the skin care products which suit you most, try to do a patch test when trying to start a new skin care product.

Switch to a new brand only when necessary due to skin changes, most importantly after 6-8 months of using the current skin care brand.

Do not be tempted to try new skin care products after watching television advertisements. If you wish to do so, get some samples and try it on the neck area or hands.

Old make up products such as foundation, concealer, lip stick, blusher, eye liner , mascaras or eye shadow can cause skin rashes. Beware of make up tools such as dirty brushes and dirty comb. Try not to keep your make up for more than 6 months in hot and humid area, and for cold and dry area, keep it up to around one year of time frame but not more.

In order to allow your make up to last longer, keep the product clean and fresh at all time. Wipe the sides and corner of bottles, tube or containers after using each time to prevent from getting contaminated.

Taking certain food can cause some skin rashes to the facial areas. You must have come across friends who experience facial skin rash after taking seafood or beef. If you find that you get facial skin rashes after taking certain food, perhaps you should avoid taking that particular food or consult your doctor for advice.

Do not allow certain chemicals such as laundry detergent, dish washing liquid or other cleaning chemicals to smear onto your facial skin. Some of these chemicals can be too strong for your facial skin which results in skin rashes. Hair shampoo can also cause skin problems. When washing your hair, please ensure that the hair shampoo does not flow down the face area. Chemicals for construction use can be harmful to your facial skin too – cement, paint, shellac, thinner. Avoid placing your face near these chemicals.

Always keep your hands clean before touching your face. Bacteria on your hands can cause pimples and even skin irritation. Keep your pillows, bed, mattress and sofa clean, otherwise mites could end up disturbing your top layer of skin causing face and body rashes all over. Face and bath towel should be kept clean at all time to avoid skin problems as well.

Emotional Intelligence, Reading Faces, and Meditation

Concealed emotions, also called facial “microexpressions”, are the fleeting expressions that, believe it or not, you make when consciously or unconsciously trying to hide your true emotions. In conscious microexpressions you may be trying to lie, while with unconscious expressions, you may not even be aware of what they are truly feeling.

Paul Ekman, Ph.D. has made a study of these microexpressions. According to Ekman, “These expressions tend to be very extreme and very fast. Eighty to 90 percent of people we tested don’t see them.”

Ekman was a Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of California at San Francisco for 32 years. His original focus was on “nonverbal” behavior, and by the mid-60s, he concentrated on the expression and physiology of emotion. He has developed a secondary interest in interpersonal deception as well. Perhaps his most famous publication is the The Facial Action Coding System (FACS) which is used by law enforcement and intelligence agencies everywhere, as well as parents and therapists who want to be able to understand people around them better.

“With my children, spouse, friends and work associates, if I don’t understand how they’re feeling either about me or about (things) that may have nothing to do with me when we interact then I’m not going to have a very useful exchange with them,” Ekman said.

He has conducted extensive research on identifying emotions through facial expressions. As part of that research, and as part of the power of discipline and training, he learned how to consciously manipulate 42 facial muscles, including many that in most of us are beyond our control, and even awareness.

In the 60s and 70s when Ekman began looking into the universality of facial expressions, all the major contemporary social scientists, like Margaret Mead, believed that expressions were culturally learned, not innate. He proceeded traveled all over the world with pictures of people making distinct facial expressions and found people in cultures everywhere, from modern to stone age, agreed on the emotion behind the expression. He then turned to studying the production of these expressions and the 43 facial muscles that can create 10,000 expressions, which form the basis of his training.

He found seven universal emotions with unique facial expression. The emotions are: anger, fear, sadness, disgust, happiness, surprise, and contempt. At least five of these are shared with non-human primates as well. Interestingly, the smile is the easiest expression to recognize, and the easiest to identify from afar. These emotions have a specific trigger, come quickly without thought, and interact with your physiology – meaning merely making the fear expression will create a fear response in your body as well. With fear, neurons will signal your body to prepare to flee by sending blood to the large voluntary muscles in your legs. In anger, on the other hand, your brain signals your body to fight by sending blood to your hands. Try practicing on yourself: can you feel a change in your emotional state by making changes in your facial expression?

Emotions have distinct triggers and learning those triggers is an important step in understanding your own emotions and why you respond the way you do. To date, the best way to learn to recognize the the impulse that was triggered before the awareness of the emotion is contemplative practice (meditation). Also, an important point to clarify, emotions are not moods, which are longer affective experiences have an unclear trigger (you may not be sure what sparked the mood you’re in) and tend to filter your view of the environment.

Based on primary and secondary research, he found that there are seven emotions expressed in the face in universally consistent ways: Sadness, Anger, Surprise, Fear, Enjoyment, Disgust, Contempt.

Even more interesting: according to his research, feelings and facial expressions influence each other. This is, not only a sad person will naturally look sad, but a person who intentionally smiles will feel more content than a person who doesn’t.

Now, would you please smile …

What to Look for the Best Acne Treatment

May 21, 2010 · Posted in Facial Concealer · Comment

Acne affects millions of people every year. It does not just affect teenagers, as there are many adults who also suffer from the skin problem. Many of us are on a relentless search for the best acne treatment. There are so many different medications, creams, lotions, and cleansers on the market today that it can become a little bit confusing. Often people will buy so many different treatments and try them at once that they can actually counteract and make acne worse. When looking for the best acne treatment, it’s important to know about your skin first. The most common thing people use is benzoyl peroxide. This medication can be found in many over the counter acne treatment creams. Benzoyl peroxide is designed to help dry out the afflicted areas by killing the bacteria that causes acne in the first place. Many people often see results with benzoyl peroxide within a day or two. The key to using it is to be sure and apply it to the acne once the skin has been cleaned and dried. Overnight is often best. It is important to know that benzoyl peroxide can in some cases bleach fabric or even hair, so do a test on some material before applying it. Another treatment that has increased in popularity over the last few years is Salicylic Acid. Salicylic acid is also found in many over the counter applications, and is designed to help unclog the pores and break down both blackheads and whiteheads, resulting in clearer skin. Some treatments combine both benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid to help boost the clearing power of the medication, and perform two different tasks on the skin at once.

A little known fact is that people have been using sulfur on acne for thousands of years. Sulfur helps to peel and dry the skin, ridding it of the excess oil. It can be found in a variety of facial soaps, cleansers, and creams. It is important to note, however, that sulfur has a very unpleasant smell. In addition, it can sometimes irritate the skin and make it red and itchy. The sulfur may cause new cells that have been exposed to adhere to each other, causing more acne. If you choose a treatment containing sulfur, be sure it is a mild one that does not contain too much. Aside from the basic drugstore or over the counter acne treatments, there are also prescription options available that can be administered from your doctor or dermatologist. These include prescription creams and even pills. Which treatment you receive will be decided by your doctor. They often look at factors like age, and the severity of the acne before prescribing something. It can be a long and hard search to find the best acne treatment, but with some trial and error, you can usually find one that will work well with your skin and help give you back a clearer complexion and more confidence. Read up on the different treatments available and try one at a time until you find the perfect match for you.

Every acne treatment should deal with the cause of the problem rather than simply concealing blemishes. Some concealers contain active ingredients that are found in a standard acne treatment, but the concealer does not do the job of cleansing the area and ridding it of oil. A good wash may be the best acne treatment available, but if a pimple has already appeared, a good concealer can be a lifesaver for that date or the big event.

It is important to use a good acne treatment and not to squeeze pimples. One may be tempted to think that, since the pore is clogged with oil, one should squeeze the oil out, but this only aggravates the problem, and can cause scarring. Some people have the nervous habit of picking pimples, which should be avoided at all costs, since it can also cause scarring. One of the best acne treatments is washing one’s face properly. This does not involve intense scrubbing, which can aggravate the problem, but really cleansing the face with a good cleanser that flushes out oil. After the face is washed, you can treat the face with benzol peroxide or another acne treatment which will remove oil from the pores. Many people make the mistake of using rubbing alcohol, which is not an acne treatment, and can dry the pores excessively. The regimen can be completed with an oil-free moisturizer which will keep the skin soft without using substances that will clog the pores an make acne worse. If you wish to apply cover-up, do so after the moisturizer is applied, and make sure that your concealer does not contain oil.

For those with severe acne, it is possible to obtain special acne treatments with a prescription, but these should be purchased only if other avenues have been unsuccessful. Many people have found success with alternative acne treatments and remedies, such as tea tree oil, which works well with oily skin. Removing oil from the skin is the most important aspect of an acne treatment, and deep cleansing can ensure that the pores are not clogged.

Hale to a Younger Looking Face

May 21, 2010 · Posted in Facial Concealer · Comment

Sir. Arvin Gumato Pareja, BSN, RN, MBA

Our society places a high value on looking young and fit. Today, men of all ages and all walks of life are requesting plastic surgery for cosmetic reasons. Men’s goals include a more balanced nose, a rejuvenated face, a trimmer waistline. The procedures used to achieve these goals must take into consideration are factors such as skin thickness, beard growth, or body type.

This article reviews some of the special considerations for men contemplating a cosmetic procedure. It won’t answer all of your questions, since a lot depends on your individual circumstances. Be sure to ask your doctor if there is anything you don’t understand about the procedure you plan to have.

Planning Your Surgery

Good communication between you and your plastic surgeon is essential when planning your surgery. In your initial consultation, you’ll be asked to explain in detail why you want the procedure and how you hope to look and feel afterward. It’s important to set aside any awkwardness you might feel, and speak candidly about the changes you’d like to see. You should feel completely assured that you and your surgeon understand one another.

Your doctor will also evaluate your health, conduct a physical exam, take pre-operative photographs, and explain which surgical techniques are most appropriate for you. You’ll discuss the type of anesthesia to be used, the type of facility where the surgery will be performed, the possible risks, and the costs involved. Medical insurance usually doesn’t cover cosmetic procedures. However, some plastic surgeons offer special financing plans for cosmetic surgery or accept credit cards.

Tell your surgeon if any part of the consultation makes you uncomfortable, or if you have any special privacy requests. Above all, it’s important to have realistic expectations about your surgery. Remember, your doctor can offer significant improvement, but not perfection. Keep in mind that your age and health may play a role in the quality of the outcome.

The Surgery

Extensive information about the particular procedure you plan to have will be provided during your consultation. While going over the steps of the procedure, your doctor will discuss a number of issues that may influence your surgery. Make sure you fully understand these considerations.

Facial surgery: If you are planning facial surgery or neck surgery, your doctor will evaluate your entire head-face-neck region. Is the hairline receding? How full are the sideburns? Does the beard-growing skin extend up the cheeks or down the neck? Are there facial scars? Is the skin sun-damaged? Is the neck skin loose or drooping?

In general, it’s known that male facial skin has a richer blood supply than female facial skin. Male faces bleed more during surgery and are at greater risk for forming a temporary collection or pooling of blood under the skin, called a hematoma, after surgery.

Also, any scarring that may result from surgery may be more difficult for men to hide, since they don’t wear make-up or style their hair toward their faces, as many women do.

Hair growth and beard growth may play a major role in the outcome of a facelift. If you are balding or have thinning hair, surgical artistry may be required to hide the facelift incision, especially in the temple area. If the hair-bearing skin of your upper neck is pulled behind your ears during surgery, you may find that you must shave behind your ears or the back of your neck. However, sometimes electrolysis can correct this problem. Be sure to discuss these possibilities with your surgeon.

A fatty or “jowly” area beneath the chin is also a concern for many men. In younger patients, liposuction alone may be sufficient to correct the problem. Older patients may require a full facelift and necklift, which may include the removal of excess skin and tightening the platysma muscles, which run down each side of the neck. These muscles are usually thicker in men than they are in women, but do not pose a greater challenge for your plastic surgeon.

“Refinishing” treatments for facial skin: Shaving must be postponed for about 3 weeks after a skin-smoothing treatment such as chemical peel or dermabrasion. Because these procedures strip away the surface layers of skin, you can expect your face to remain sensitive, swollen, and bright pink for several weeks after surgery.

Some men are happy that the beard growth helps conceal the pinkness of their recovering skin — especially if they feel uncomfortable using camouflage make-up.

Men who feel self-conscious about their condition are also advised to give up alcoholic drinks for about 4 weeks. Alcohol causes the areas of treated facial skin to become noticeably red and flushed.

Changing the facial features: Cosmetic procedures such as eyelid surgery, nose surgery, and facial-implant surgery are performed essentially the same way for men and women. However, it’s important to let your surgeon know if you are seeking a more masculine look to your facial features — a chin with better projection, more prominent cheekbones, a stronger nose.

Hair replacement: The primary consideration for men contemplating hair-replacement surgery is the time involved. Natural-appearing hair replacement usually requires multiple surgical procedures, with long recovery intervals. A full regimen of hair transplants may last anywhere from 18 months to 2 years or more.

You should be aware that incisions or transplant sites may be noticeable to others, especially in the early stages of the hair transplant process. If your work or lifestyle isn’t compatible with a long treatment period, ask your surgeon about alternatives to hair-transplant options, such as flap surgery or scalp reduction.

Liposuction/body contouring: The ideal male body shape is considered to be trim and athletic-looking, with broad shoulders and chest, a flat abdomen, and a narrow hip-thigh area. However, as men age, areas of fat tend to accumulate around the abdomen, the flanks (“love handles”), the breast area (a condition called gynecomastia), and along the chin and neck. Men sometimes seek liposuction to remove these fatty areas that are resistant to diet and exercise.

In many cases, liposuction alone can effectively correct these problem areas. Men retain their skin elasticity longer than women do, and the areas of fat beneath the skin tend to be firmer and more vascular than those in women. Because of these and other factors, liposuction in men is usually very effective.

Men who have some loose, hanging skin as well as areas of excess fat may opt for a traditional excision procedure (surgical skin removal) in addition to liposuction. An excision may also be performed on gynecomastia patients whose breast enlargement is made up of mostly glandular tissue, rather than fat.

Abdomen reduction: A full abdominoplasty or “tummy tuck” may be chosen by men who have hanging abdominal skin (usually the result of massive weight loss), loose abdominal muscles, and/or neglected hernias. It is a major surgical procedure that removes excess fat, tightens the muscles of the abdominal wall, and trims the waistline. Men who have a full abdominoplasty are often surprised at the long recovery period. Some patients aren’t able to return to work up to 4 weeks after surgery.

Men with good skin elasticity who have only a moderate amount of excess abdominal fat may benefit from liposuction alone.

Muscle-enhancing surgery: In recent years, plastic surgeons have developed ways of improving muscle contour with cosmetic implants and “sculpting” techniques.

Calf implants, which were originally developed to restore leg contour in accident or polio victims, are now sometimes used to create cosmetic fullness in the lower leg. Similarly, pectoral implants, which are used to build the chests of men with Poland’s syndrome, can also be used to “bulk out” the existing pectoral muscles of healthy men.

A small number of doctors have begun offering their male patients abdominal etching, a new liposuction technique that creates a muscular, rippled appearance in the abdominal area.

Men who consider cosmetic muscle enhancement should keep in mind that these procedures are still relatively new. It is best to seek out a board-certified plastic surgeon who has received adequate training in these methods.

After Your Surgery

The days and weeks immediately following your surgery are critical to obtaining a good final result. Therefore, it’s essential that you follow your doctor’s orders to the letter. Following orders may mean taking adequate time off work; wearing bandages or tight compression garments; getting enough rest; staying out of the sun; saying no to alcohol and cigarettes; and avoiding strenuous activity, exercise, sports, and even sex.

However, plastic surgeons understand that it’s sometimes difficult for men, who are programmed by society to be stoic, to remain in bed for very long or to accept help from others during recovery. Studies have shown that men often deny their pain and feel foolish about asking for help after surgery. Men who reject help may have an especially difficult recovery if post-operative depression sets in during the weeks following surgery.

To avoid post-operative problems, it’s important that you arrange to have a support person available to help you — both physically and emotionally — for about a week after surgery. If you get the help and rest you need, you’ll improve your chances of a quicker recovery — and you may see your results a lot sooner.

Simple Makeup Steps For Busy Women

May 21, 2010 · Posted in Facial Concealer · Comment

Generally women are symbol of beauty but it is important for women to more beautify herself. Every woman wants to look beautiful that too in public places. But not everyone have time to go to parlors to beautify them and especially working women’s run short of time while getting ready to office. So that women’s don’t have time to go and find best beauty parlor. So here I provide you some easy tips to a simple makeup to get ready to office or parties. Why want to go to parlors you can quickly and easily finish off your makeup in home with less time.

Simple Home made make up tips :

1.) Before starting your makeup you should clean your face thoroughly. Use your soap or face wash gel to wash your face.

2.) After washing dry your face with a soft towel.

3.) Cleanse your face using some gentle cleansers. By cleansing your face you can remove the dead skin cells from the surface of the skin and it helps to clean the dirt deep inside the pores. But while selecting a cleanser you have to be very careful. Go for gentle facial cleansers that are suitable for all skin types.

4.) After cleansing wash your face with water and dry your face.

5.) Apply a suitable toner. Opt astringent toner to close your pores which normally opens after cleansing. Apply little amount of toner to the cotton sponge and rub evenly on your face. Leave it until pat dry.

6.) When the skin is cool and moist apply a gentle moisturizer which is suitable for your skin type. For example if your skin is oily use oil free moisturizer. Moisturizer helps to keep your face hydrate and moist.

7.) If you are using any eye cream apply that first.

8.) If you have any issues in your face like dark spots, age spots, acne mark, or hyper pigmentation you can use a concealer. But concealer should be a lighter shade than your foundation. Select a concealer that suits the color of your foundation.

9.) Now apply foundation. There are two types of foundation one is liquid type and one is cream type. You can select the one which will work best for your skin type. The women with dry skin can go for cream foundation. Be careful while selecting the color of the foundation that will match your skin tone. Take little foundation in your finger tips and apply in your forehead, chin, cheeks and nose carefully and blend it evenly in your face or you can use sponge to blend.

10.) Use powder. Powder is not only useful for coating but also helps to set the concealer and foundation. It also helps the foundation and concealer to stand longer. You can use pressed or loose powder as per your convenience. But give a even finish you can also use a brush to apply powder evenly.

11.) You have to start with eye shadows for your eyes. Select a perfect eye shadow which matches your skin tone and dress. Take a soft eye shadow brush and wipe it lightly in the one which you have selected and gently sweep on your eyelids.

12.) The next step is to apply eyeliner. Now we can get a eyeliner with a thin brush that is more convenient to use and give a good finish.

13.) Next after applying the eyeliner is to apply the mascara to the upper and lower lashes. You can get mascaras in all shades. But black is the color that suits everyone and all types & colors of dresses.

14.) Blush your cheeks it is much important. It makes your cheeks and your face bright. Select a natural color or light color like the color of your palm to blush your face.

15.) As final steps of your makeup process we are going to finish it off with the lips. While selecting a lipstick we should be careful that the lipstick should suite the skin makeup, your outfit and your skin tone. Use lip gloss it helps to protect your lips soft and to give a shining finish to your lips.

16.) It you need apply a lip liner suitable for your lipstick after applying the lip gloss. But use a lip liner if your lips are thin.

This is very simple make up method, any one can follow this easily, but the think is  you should select the suitable beauty products that suited for your skin type.
